雖說WinXP已經內含DirectX 9.0c，而Vista則是內含DirectX 10.0，Vista SP1甚至內含DirectX 10.1。
不過，微軟大約『每兩到三個月』重新釋出DirectX End-User Runtimes的新版本，可為啟用 DirectX 的遊戲及其他許多媒體軟體帶來最高的效能。此版本的 DirectX 可取代先前所有版本的 DirectX。
若常常在玩遊戲的人，建議一定要更新這個DirectX End-User Runtimes！！！
用來搭配新的顯示卡驅動，在一些高硬體需求的遊戲才能發揮最大效益！（連Vista / Win2008也適用歐！）
