CentOS 5.5 是 CentOS 5 發行系列的第五次更新，距離上次CentOS 5.4版也差不多才半年多前。它包含了很多錯誤修正、升級和新功能。
同時，由 CentOS 5.5 起，x86_64 將會被分開為兩張 DVD，也算是創下紀錄。
